Portola Living Campus Tree Planting Day (Rain or shine!)

Description
Come help kick-off a new Living Campus outdoor classroom and garden at Portola Elementary school! For this installation day, we will be planting the Portola Elementary orchard, consisting of 37 fruit trees representing 34 different varieties! Volunteers ages 5+ welcome with adult supervision.
Bring a water bottle, work gloves, and a spade-tipped shovel if you have one!
This event will occur rain or shine. Wear appropriate shoes and prepare to get muddy!
Tasks will include:

Preparing the soil

Creating gopher cages for each tree

Planting bare root and nursery trees

Installing irrigation
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, volunteers must observe the following guidelines:

If you are currently experiencing sypmptoms of illness, please do not attend any EGC work event. Symptoms include, but are not limited to, chills, fever, fatigue, sore throat, muscle soreness, loss of sense of smell, vomiting, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, and/or coughing.

If within the last 14 days you have come into close contact with anyone who has since tested positive for COVID-19, please do not attend any EGC work event prior to obtaining a negative COVID-19 test taken 5-7 days after exposure.
