April 28th San Carlos Farmers' Market

Help staff EGC's information and produce donation booth at the San Carlos Farmers' Market! Share information to market-goers about Each Green Corner, our mission, and volunteer opportunities.

Explain how they can donate produce to their local food bank by purchasing a little extra produce from the other farmers’ market vendors and donating it at EGC's booth.

There are two time slots. The morning one runs from 8:30AM to 11:00AM, and the afternoon one is from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. 

Morning shift: Meet at EGC's booth on the 600 block of Laurel Street to help set up EGC's booth before the market begins at 9:00 AM. During the shift, engage with market shoppers to share EGC's mission, services, and ways to volunteer, and to encourage shoppers to donate produce at our booth for delivery to Samaritan House Food Pantry. They can purchase a little extra produce from the other farmers’ market vendors and drop it by our booth. You will also weigh donated produce and keep the goal posters updated.  Market shoppers who donate produce get to spin our prize wheel and win a token gift of thanks for their donation.

Afternoon shift: During the shift, engage with market shoppers to share EGC's mission, services, and ways to volunteer, and to encourage shoppers to donate produce at our booth for delivery to Samaritan House Food Pantry. They can purchase a little extra produce from the other farmers’ market vendors and drop it by our booth. You will also weigh donated produce and keep the goal posters updated.  Marekt shoppers who donate produce get to spin our prize wheel and win a token gift of thanks for their donation. When the market ends at 1:00 PM, breakdown EGC's booth, including taking down posters and collecting our acrylic brochure stands from the vendors. Ask all produce vendors if they have excess produce they would like to donate, and then log donated produce on EGC's market booth log.  Once all supplies are packed up, one volunteer should return supplies to the EGC shed (2010 San Carlos Ave, San Carlos 94070), and the other volunteer should drop produce off at the Samaritan House (4031 Pacific Blvd, San Mateo, CA 94403).
